For small businesses hiring independent contractors only, would a documentation of all T4A slips be sufficient to meet the minimum requirements? Banks require a T4SUM, which doesn’t get generated for independent contractors.

If you’re referring to the CEBA loan, I don’t have a specific answer on that right now, I’ve followed up with my colleage in Small Business for an answer, if you leave your email I can make sure you get that answer when it comes in! My intuition is there will probably be a way for us to work together to ensure you have the documentation you need to qualify.

I’ve been advocating for a different eligibility criteria, besides payroll. The T4As will not satisfy the bank’s requirements at present, but this is a quickly changing landscape, and I agree that we need to support all businesses.

A question for Adam about CSJ. We will need to delay the start of employment to a time when we are able to get back to business. How will this affect an appliation that had a May 15 start?

Hey Cheryl, employers will be allowed to adapt their projects and job activities to support essential services and there will be an extension to the end date for employment to February 28, 2021. The employer can email us at adam.vankoeverden@parl.gc.ca if you want to ask a specific question about how to modify your start date!

Is the summer job program only for businesses that applied before the deadline in February?

Adam will have the opportunity to help identify new employers and local organizations who may not have previously applied for CSJ funding, but could offer job placements that provide essential services during this critical time. Please email us at adam.vankoeverden@parl.gc.ca !

When will we be able to apply for wage subsidy?

Is there information available from the Ontario Government about rent relief ?

We are asking landlords to work with their tenants currently. There are programs rolling out through partnership with the Federal and Provincial governments.

Hello–I am asking on behalf of the ICCM (Italian Canadian Club of Milton) –we have no incoming revenue, no employees, do not qualify for the loan option, so we do not fit in with any of the criteria for relief that we can see to cover our operating costs. Is there anything for this situation?

Hi Rosanna, You are asking on behalf of the Italian Canadian Club? There is more than one ICCM. There will be some supports for non-profits, but i’d like to know specifically how your operations have been impacted. Please email us adam.vankoeverden@parl.gc.ca”

What is the Provincal government doing to prepare businesses with guidelines/practices in their return-to-work?

Our government believes that every Canadian has the right to a safe and healthy workplace. The Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety will be releasing further resources and we will continue to monitor the ongoing situation, and examine any and all options that could further help our workers and industries.    “Robert – Hi Rick – we are updating the business community regularly through our email distribution list. We will be sending these guidelines through as they become available.

Regarding commercial property tax deferral, can the deferred amount be split over a longer payback period?

Ultimately it will be Council’s decision, but the current expectation is that a report will be presented to Council in May and is likely to recommend revised due dates for the final billings (i.e. later in year than the normal June/September time frames)
