Join the Milton chamber in part two of our addressing racism series. In this interactive session we will be focusing on the challenges facing our South Asian communities.

Councillor Sameera Ali will be touching upon topics such as Islamaphobia and society’s misconceptions about cultural traditions and symbols such as the hijab.

The discussion will be moderated by Kevin Kamau, Founder of Kamau Consulting Group, a Management consulting firm focusing on a strategic approach to Equity, Diversity & Inclusion. Kevin will offer some tips and strategies that organizations, communities and individuals can implement to help overcome these challenges.

Guest Speaker: Sameera Ali
Sameera is the local Councillor for Ward 4 which is the southwest area of Milton and also the fastest growing ward in the fastest growing town in Ontario. Being a global citizen, with international life experiences, Sameera is the perfect representation of Milton’s most diverse ward.
Sameera’s passion for volunteering in the community has given her the insight and understanding needed to fill in the gaps and build bridges in our town. Issues related to Diversity, Inclusion, Youth, Poverty Reduction and Seniors continue to be her focus and as such she sits on the Milton Youth Task Force, is the P.R Officer for the Milton Legion and the Community Director for Milton Halal Food Bank. Sameera holds a Masters Degree in International Relations/PR and professionally she has over 15 years of experience in managing multi-lingual PR and Marketing campaigns for clients all over the world. Currently, she resides in the Willmott neighbourhood of Ward 4 with her loving husband and four beautiful children.

Kevin is the Founder of Kamau Consulting Group based out of Toronto, Canada, a Management Consulting firm specializing in Inclusive Leadership where they partner with their Clients to raise awareness & remove systemic barriers creating inclusive opportunities. For over 14 years, Kevin successfully led multiple teams at one of the largest Canadian Corporations through change where he empowered mindsets to move beyond any obstacles. A strategic, results-oriented change leader with a broad scope of Business & H.R experience, Kevin is best remembered for leading and championing a Leadership Development Program during the fastest growth period ever experienced during his time in the corporate world which transformed the workplace through Inclusive Leadership.

Earning a reputation with his Clients for being inspiring and refreshing while providing excellent revelations on Leadership, Kevin uses many of the skills and experience he earned in the corporate world today. Kevin specializes in starting the dialogue and formulating a strategic path towards inclusive workspaces which requires self-awareness in finding our authenticity as Leaders.
