Springboard Seminar Series – February 25, 2015
February 25, 2015 @ 8:30 am - 9:30 am
This month’s topic: Yoga Therapy: Yoga as Therapy
One of the most exciting developments in the last few decades is the cross-fertilization of Western science with ideas from ancient Eastern wisdom systems such as yoga therapy.
In just the last few years, research has documented the efficacy of yoga as therapy for such conditions as back pain, multiple sclerosis, insomnia, cancer, heart disease, and even tuberculosis. Studies are also increasingly documenting how yoga therapy works. Among its many beneficial effects, yoga therapy has been shown to increase strength, flexibility, and balance; enhance immune function; lower blood sugar and cholesterol levels; and improve psychological well-being. One of yoga therapy’s most prominent effects, of course, is stress reduction.
Come and learn how Yoga Therapy can help.
This talk will be part lecture and part experiential, with chair yoga and a brief guided meditation by the presenter.
