Milton Chamber is seeking an Executive Director

The Milton Chamber of Commerce is looking for an outstanding leader to execute the Board’s vision in the fastest growing community in Canada, and Profit Magazine’s Best Place to Do Business (2015), following the retirement of the current Executive Director in the spring of 2016.

The Milton Chamber of Commerce is a not-for-profit, membership-based, volunteer driven, organization representing over 750 member businesses and individuals, and has been the key voice for business in the community since 1888. The Milton Chamber’s primary role is advocacy, fostering a business-friendly environment and allowing the free enterprise system to thrive. The Chamber acts as a partner with member businesses by promoting them through business-to-business advertising, member-first referrals and Chamber sponsored publications and events.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) works with the Board in policy and planning development and holds the key leadership position within the organization to advocate for the local business community. The ED plays an essential role in achieving the Chamber’s mission and financial objectives, and has the authority to oversee the administration of the organization, including programs, services and revenue streams. The ED is also responsible for maintaining and enhancing other key aspects of Chamber operations, including service development, community relations, partnerships and sponsorships.

The successful candidate will have:

  • post-secondary degree in Business, Public Policy or related field
  • minimum 5 years work within a Chamber or equivalent environment at a senior level
  • minimum 3 years experience of work with a Board of Directors in a very senior capacity
  • demonstrated organizational, entrepreneurial, leadership, and management ability
  • demonstrated issues management experience
  • experience in staff management
  • excellent oral and written communication skills
