The Government of Canada has introduced a broader package of financing, investment, business-support and workforce measures in response to U.S. tariffs and trade disruption.
On August 25, 2026, the federal government announced an additional $7.5 billion in tariff-response measures. The package includes expanded support through BDC and the Regional Tariff Response Initiative, a new $2 billion Canada Strong Diversification Fund, changes to the Large Enterprise Tariff Loan facility, and additional measures intended to help businesses retain and retrain workers.
Some of these measures are newly announced and detailed application information may continue to change as programs are implemented. The Government of Canada’s central tariff-support page provides links to current federal programs and eligibility information.
